Call to Artists: Fashion and Function – Handmade Holiday Gift Shop

The Mosesian Center for the Arts invites artists to submit fun and functional handmade work to be included in our Fashion and Function themed Handmade Holiday Gift Shop. Jewelers, potters, sculptors, clothing designers, housewares and home decor designers, wood workers, glass artists, furniture makers, fabricators, greeting card designers and more are encouraged to apply. We are looking for a broad range of styles and price points. Artists will be notified of acceptance on a rolling basis from time of submission until the deadline.
 
The Handmade Holidays gift shop grand opening will coincide with our “Abstract” art exhibition opening reception. The shop is open daily and evenings for theatre performances, concerts, etc.

Important Dates:

Submission Deadline: October 10, 2017
Jury Selection Notification: Rolling until October 13, 2017 
Shop Opens:  November 9, 2017
Public Opening Reception Party:  November 16, 5:30 to 7:30pm
Shop Closes: February 17, 2018
 
Please note that the Mosesian Center for the Arts reserves the right to make minor adjustments to the exhibition timeline. Artists will be notified of final dates in their acceptance letters. 
 

Eligibility:

Artists regardless of location are welcome to apply, including international artists. Local artists will be provided drop off time and date details upon acceptance. Non-local selected artists work must be received at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 c/o exhibitions by October 21, 2017. Non-local artists are responsible for shipping costs both to and from the MCA and are responsible for insuring their work while in transit. If shipping work, each artist must provide a pre-paid, UPS or FedEx return shipping label including insurance. Please pack your work in sturdy reusable packaging. The Mosesian Center for the Arts carries appropriate insurance to cover all artwork in the show for the duration of the exhibition, including the time frame of drop-off, installation, de-installation and pick-up.


Submission Process:

$10 to apply. Your application registration fee includes up to 20 item submissions. You may submit up to three images for each item. Please note, if you have multiple items that are varations of an single item (ie color or style varation) that all cost the same, that is considered one submission e.g. 10 scarfs in different color patterns that are each priced at $25. Work must be submitted online at: www.mca-holiday-shop.artcall.org


Commission Structure:

Artists receive 60% commission and the Mosesian Center for the Arts receives 40% for work sold in the shop. The Artist reserves all copyrights and reproduction rights on the work in the shop. Mosesian Center for the Arts may duplicate and reproduce images of work for purposes of public relations and exhibition announcements directly related to the exhibition.
